Crossing the Jordan
3 Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set out from Shittim and went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over. 2 After three days the officers went throughout the camp, 3 giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. 4 Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits[a] between you and the ark; do not go near it.”
5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
Forward Thinkers, on Wednesday I closed with Joshua chapter 3 but the spirit of the Lord deposited so much into me that night that I have to go back to Joshua chapter 3 to kick-off today’s message.
Joshua and the Israelites set out from and went to: Forward Thinkers, this season we must commit to setting out from places God never intended to be permanent locations in our life.
Forward Thinkers, too many people have become too comfortable in an uncomfortable place that God never intended for you to settle in. It was supposed to be a learning situation not a life time situation of struggle. It was prepared as a resting place not a place to dominate the rest of your life.
The Children of Israel had overcome physical slavery but many were stuck in mental and emotional slavery that prevented them from progressing forward in life.
Forward Thinkers, we can never escape so as a man thinks so is he.
The Children of Israel was in slavery when God declared to Moses tell Pharaoh let my people go. God spoke to Moses, the appointed and anointed leader, and gave him revelation to shift his generation from slavery to liberty.
Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom and liberty. Liberty means I have total access to everything God has for me.
Before they were set free the enemy intensified the level of attacks and increased the degree of hardships thrown at them.
But, Forward Thinkers, be encouraged in the midst of attacks and hardships God is working things out to lead you out.
Forward Thinkers, when God allows attacks or hardships to pop up in your life He has two divine purposes in mind. We don’t want to admit it but maybe it’s a harvest birthed from negative seeds you’ve sown into the atmosphere. Remember the word of God says we will reap what we have sown. The attack is designed to get you to repent and return back to God.
The second purpose is to put you in a position where you have to totally depend on God and draw closer to Him.
Forward Thinkers, be encouraged and notice in either case the devil has no control or power over your situation.
Be encouraged they went through a desert, a wilderness, and a battle or two but the key is THEY WENT THROUGH meaning God brought them through it all. Be encouraged God is bringing you through also.
Be encouraged you are too blessed to stay in your current situation of struggle and sorrow.
Be encouraged Moses dies but God had already prepared a Joshua to step up and lead the Children of Israel to another level. God never allows us to lose anything without first preparing us for the next season.
Forward Thinkers, before we can cross over the Jordan we have to get to the Jordan. The race is not given to the fastest but to those who endure to the end.
Faith without works is dead.
The Lord commanded structure be put in place before crossing over to get the wilderness mindset out of the people. May I take your order? Until there is order nothing will show up to your table.
God is downloading fresh revelation because you’ve never done what you’re about to do before.
Your thoughts and your decisions must shift from where you’ve been to where you’re going.
Forward Thinkers, we must follow God to get cross the Jordan.
The Lord is about to do some amazing things in the lives of those who are ready and in position to cross over with a new spiritual mindset.
Matthew 5:11-12 New International Version (NIV)
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Notice when the priest stepped in the Jordan River the water stopped flowing down but reversed its natural flow and started flowing up stream.
God is going to release uncommon favor and uncommon provisions this season for those in spiritual alignment and position.
Consecrate yourself get yourself ready for this next move of God.
Spiritual circumcision is needed before you enter into the Jordan.
Your thoughts and your decisions must point you in the direction you desire to go.
Joshua 3:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.
Forward Thinkers, there is power in the Word of God to get you cross the Jordan and when you cross your testimony of crossing over will empower others to walk in faith and live their lives to the fullest.
