Chris Paul to Pay Gerald Green’s Fine
In the 4th quarter of the Houston Rockets game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, a shoving match occurred. The incident began when center Gorgui Deing of the Timberwolves shoved Rockets point guard Chris Paul to the ground. Houston native and Rockets forward Gerald Green came to his teammate’s defense by shoving Deing to the ground with the quickness. Both players, Deing and Green received technical fouls and after a review of the tape, Green was ejected from the game.
Green said of the incident, “I’m just trying to be there for my teammate. I saw something happen and I reacted. I paid the consequences for it. Obviously, that’s not something I’m trying to portray myself for. Anytime I put myself in a situation I can protect my teammates, I’m going to try to do that. I learned my lesson, got ejected, try not to do that again.”
The NBA announced Tuesday that Green would be fined $25,000 for the shove. Paul mentioned that he told Green, “I’ll cover whatever fine that you get.”
The win over the Timberwolves gave the Rockets their 56th win for the season. This means they have already surpassed last year’s win total and are only two wins from the franchise record.
