Couch and Cinema: What to Watch This Spring…

Logan: Hugh Jackman has been playing the role of Wolverine in various X-Men films since 2000 and per the encouragement of his friend Jerry Seinfeld, Jackman decided to make Logan his swan song. Logan, which stars Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, and newcomer Dafne Keen as Laura, was an action-packed and emotional send off to a character that fans of the franchise grew up with. The pendulum swings rapidly from quiet reflective character revelations to violence and mayhem. The film has already raked in a whopping $500+ million at the box office worldwide. Definitely a must see.

Dave Chappelle’s Netflix Comedy Specials: It looks like Dave Chappelle got the last laugh after all. After walking away from a $50 million dollar deal at the height of success of his hit comedy sketch show, Chappelle’s Show in 2004, Dave is back.

He took some time to live his life on his own terms and is back with a trio of comedy specials which are now available to stream on Netflix and a deal that earned him $60 million. The first hour-long special is titled, The Age of Spin: Dave Chappelle Live at The Hollywood Palladium, and was recorded in Los Angeles. The second is titled, Deep in the Heart of Texas: Dave Chappelle Live at Austin City Limits, and was recorded in Texas.  The third has yet to be released.

Jerrod Carmichael HBO Comedy Special “8”: Comedian Jerrod Carmichael is back with a brand new comedy special on HBO called 8. As always, he goes directly to the uncomfortable places but in the best way possible because it provokes thought and conversation. It doesn’t really get much better than that.
