‘Graced For Greatness’
2018 The Year of Increased Growth (IG)
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Grace is sufficient
Forward Thinkers, if the word of God is absolute truth and our final authority, we must live our lives as Believers knowing at all times under all circumstances that God’s grace is sufficient.
In spite of all the violence and horrible news stories we face daily, the bible tells us to fear not, over and over again.
Forward Thinkers, we all saw the reports out of Florida where a 19-year-old gunned down 17 people at a local high school; and recently, I’ve been assisting the family of a 30-year-old mother gunned down during a carjacking in SW Houston which was one of many reported in the local headlines this month.
Forward Thinkers, how can we not give in to fear with all this going on? Massive church and school shootings, daily news reports of murder and senseless crime in our communities; how can we not be overcome by fear? The reason we can overcome fear and not allow fear to rob us of Greatness is we stand on the belief that God’s grace is sufficient at all times.
Nelson Mandela: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
Forward Thinkers, we are Graced For Greatness and we are in covenant agreement with God that 2018 is the year of Increased Growth but fear is a factor we must overcome.
Fear is an enemy of Faith Walkers. Fear tried to stop Moses at the Red Sea, Joshua at the walls of Jericho, and David at the battle against Goliath the giant but thank God they walked by faith and not fear.
Forward Thinkers, the biggest enemy to the Civil Rights Era was not the KKK but fear. Blacks feared fighting back, Whites with a moral conscience feared what others would label them as if they got involved, and Racists feared they would lose their White privilege if equality became reality in the land they stole from Native Americans.
Forward Thinkers, today I challenge you to dig deeper into your current reality and you will discover your biggest problem is not the devil, sin, or so-called haters but fear. You’ve allowed yourself to be tricked by the devil because you feared you couldn’t defeat him; so you give in to him.
Genesis 15:1 New International Version (NIV)
15 After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:
“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield,[a] your very great reward.[b]”
Fear Not: I am your shield- whatever is thrown at you, God got you
I am your exceeding great reward- faith pleases God and when God is pleased, He rewards with Increased Growth those who have been faithful and fearless.
Question: what are you full of this season of your life?
Deuteronomy 1:21 New International Version (NIV)
21 See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
God has set things before us and commands us to be great but He also warns us not to let fear stop us or discourage us from being great and doing great things.
It’s no secret. I’m a Big Dreamer and I have to battle toe to toe daily with fear, I was listening to a major national leader and he said he struggles with Imposter Syndrome. Imposter Syndrome is where fear tries to make you believe no matter what you have accomplished, you are not qualified to do something great.
Psalm 23:4 New International Version (NIV)
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Forward Thinkers, be clear, we will face darkness but we must not be overcome by fear because God’s grace is sufficient and God is with us even in the valley of the shadow of death. Forward Thinkers, I’m working with a family that faced death this month when their six-year-old daughter had a gun pointed at her head while her family was being car jacked and the mother found the strength and faith to not be overcome with fear and her act of faith with God’s grace saved her family.
Psalm 27:1 New International Version (NIV)
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
Faith comes by hearing the Word of God and my present goal is to teach and preach until all fear is cancelled and faith rules. Forward Thinkers, we can’t be people of faith and continue to live in fear.
Forward Thinkers, fear desires to prevent you from experiencing Increased Growth and tricks you out of going after Greatness.
