On Tuesday August 13, 2019, Houston Texans Co-Founder and Senior Chair Janice S. McNair donated $5 million to Pro-Vision, Inc., an incredible school and organization in Sunnyside, Houston in the Third Ward. This gift has the potential to transform and reignite an entire area of Houston. The funds will be used to build housing for low-income community members as well as assist in building an on-site football field and track facility that will be named after the McNairs. The multi-purpose building that was unveiled today was value-engineered through the need of three buildings, including high school classrooms, gymnasium and community service offices. The community’s urban garden will also be increased by three-times its size, which provides healthy food for the campus, vocational jobs for the community and income by selling the produce to local businesses. This donation marks the largest gift Pro-Vision has ever received and is among the largest donations given in 2019 to support education, community relations and economic development in the National Football League.
Houston Texans Co-Founder and Senior Chair Janice S. McNair: “We are proud to provide Pro-Vision with this financial support to enhance their efforts to create positive change in under-served areas of Houston. Before Bob passed, we had the opportunity to tour the facilities at Pro-Vision and visit with their leadership. We were captivated by their mission, their approach and the impact they are having in areas of need within our community. We agreed that this would be a perfect way to continue our work to support the City of Houston and we are blessed to be able to do something significant.”
