Kay Davis In The Community recently hosted their final awards program of the year, as they held their annual Kay Davis Associates Holiday Party called “Tiaras and Top Hats, A ROYAL AFFAIR in III Acts” at the headquarters of Kay Davis Associates.
Kay Davis In The Community was established in 2019 as a way of giving back to the community via performing arts, community service, youth and sustainable nutrition programs. The program was introduced to the city when Kay Davis commissioned a Warrior Statue to honor the legacies of Dr. William Lawson, Ms. Georgia Provost and Dr. James Douglas for their work as “Houston Treasures” and their affiliation with Texas Southern University.
As part of this year’s program, Act I of the night featured a Champagne Toast honoring three fabulous Artistic Queens: Celeste Walker, national award-winning playwright; Stephanie Blue, acclaimed pianist/musician; and Eileen Morris, talented Artistic Director at the Ensemble Theatre. All three of these women collaborated to create the amazing World Premiere Musical, “More than Christmas” and are considered royalty and a celebrity in our community and beyond.
Dannette K. Davis, CEO and Founder of Kay Davis Associates and Kay Davis In the Community Foundation (KDITC), expressed her excitement in honoring the ladies.
“I have had the pleasure of working with all three ladies in a variety of ways over the years in the Arts, so this is personal,” said Davis. “The Ensemble is an important force in our Community and deserves our support. I worked with George Hawkins, late founder of the Ensemble for over 10 years. I mounted and directed several plays for Celeste and then I returned to the Ensemble stage in 2018 in a play.”
