Joshua was a rising star chosen by God to manage the inheritance of the people of Israel. Each day he lived in the shadow of Israel’s greatest leader. When Moses dies, Joshua will have ONLY 30 days to become the next leader of God’s people, Israel, the twelve tribes. 30 days later, God trusted Joshua to determine the future of His people as they arrived into the promise land. Israel’s very profitable future hinged upon how Joshua made leadership decisions to give them what was already theirs. Joshua had to divide the heritage to each tribe in the rich promise land.
The tool box man/boy must see himself as a rising star on his way to his greatness. His daily actions and decisions must aim specifically in the direction of what it takes to capture his next opportunity for greatness. People are an important factor in selecting leaders but God is the most important person that makes the final selection of who gets the best opportunity in life. The question to the tool box man/boy from this lesson series is, “Can I courageously lead other people of God to get their blessings as promises from God for their lives.” You must become a rising star to do so.
I. Joshua with Moses learned the noise of the people of Israel; Exodus 32:15,17-19
II. Joshua learns a lesson in humility from Moses; Numbers 11:24-29
III. Joshua is God and Moses’ selection as leader; Numbers 27:15-23; Deuteronomy 1:38; 3:28; 31:3,7,23; 34:9
IV. Joshua selected to tour the new land and keeps a positive prospective in the midst of a majority negative environment: Numbers 13:1-3,6,8; 14:6-10,30,38
- God’s chosen leader must be able to see the will of God in the FUTURE plans for His people.
