In celebration of turning 70 years old, Pastor Manson B. Johnson II, wanted to use his turning the page to raise funds to help Adult Education at his EastSide University Adult Education & Development organization. Johnson and Chris Cennatti, President of the Houston Dynamo, held the Second Annual Turning The Pages For Literacy fundraiser event on October 8th at the Bayou City Event Center, where several people were honored including: Karen Carter Richards, CEO and Publisher, Forward Times Publishing Co. (for her impact on literacy across the nation); Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Harris County Sheriff (for his impact on literacy in the justice system); and Professor Ed Emmett, Former Harris County Judge (for his impact on literacy on economic empowerment across Houston and Harris County).
