2017 Audrey H. Lawson IMPACT Awards Luncheon & Fashion Show
On Saturday, April 29, 2017, the Wheeler Avenue Inner City Visions, Inc. presented the Women’s Guild celebrating 54 Years of service to the Houston community. Audrey H. Lawson Impact Awards Luncheon & Fashion Show was held at the Hyatt Regency Houston at 11:30 a.m. The theme of this year’s luncheon and fashion show was highlighting Fashion and HBCUs: Preserving our Past & Celebrating Our Future. The Honorary Chair was Jacquelyn Alton and the Event Co-Chairs were Dr. Polly Turner, Cydonii Miles and Rhonda Williams. The 2017 Audrey H. Lawson IMPACT Awards list of honorees include: Ms. Janette Cosley, Ms. Lorna Hankins, Ms. Carla Lane, Dr. Forest Dent Smith, Mrs. Tiffany Smith, Mrs. Sonya Stevenson and Dr. Alvia Wardlaw.
Autism Awareness Brunch
In celebration of autism month, an autism awareness brunch was held at the 51fifteen Restaurant in the Galleria area on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Welcome and introductions were given be Liza Bailey, the event host and autism advocate. Autism awareness brunch speakers included: Darla Farmer (Hope for Three Autism Advocates), Hope Montgomery-Collins, Lieutenant Scott Soland (Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department), and Shawntell McWilliams. Many were in attendance for this awesome brunch and learned more of how one can get involved to support those with autism.
