Missouri City/Houston Space City Chapter of Top Ladies Of Distinction, Inc.’s 35th Anniversary Celebration
On December 11, 2017, the National T.L.O.D. President acknowledged and praised the Missouri City/Space City Chapter on 35 years of exemplary community service. Lady Drema, the National T.L.O.D. President stated, “This chapter has survived and thrived for thirty-five years of exemplary service and that is a significant milestone to accomplish and worth celebrating.” This chapter is making a tremendous impact in the growth and development of T.L.O.D. through their many programs of service to the community. Some outstanding activities they have engaged in include mentoring thousands of Top Teens and encouraging them along to the path of adulthood; donating thousands of dollars in scholarships to help with education of our youth; implementing creative programming for youth and adults; and providing stellar leadership through the time, talents, and resources of their many members serving as National, Area, and local officers, and most notably the 11th National President, Lady Jackie Pope. A proclamation was presented to the chapter from the City of Houston office of Mayor Sylvester Turner thanking the chapter for investing in values that support and enhance the lives of many.
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Spreading Christmas Cheer by Giving Toys to Kids and Reminding Everyone Houston Remains Strong
On Saturday, December 16th, 2017, from 10:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center (Exhibit Hall E) on 1001 Avenue De Las Americas, Houston, Texas, children were extremely excited at Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s 23rd Annual Toys for Kids Celebration. Because of the giving hearts of people such as Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, many will experience happiness this holiday season by receiving toys. More than nine thousand people attended this event. This annual event is a large community gathering and gives kids an opportunity to take pictures with Santa as well as meet celebrities including Trae Tha Truth, astronauts, and many community leaders. Children, particularly those who reside in the Sunnyside community, expressed gratitude and thanked Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee for a fun-filled evening with everyone receiving gifts. Food, fun entertainment, and toy giveaways consumed most of the day. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee thanked everyone who made this event a success, including many volunteers and sponsors who helped tremendously. Giving back helps one experience the joys of the holiday season. I would like for you to remember that it’s all about sharing and caring this holiday season!
5th Annual Yates Family Charity Holiday Party
The Yates Family helped spread holiday cheer with their 5th annual charity holiday party that was recently held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Ogun Art & Wine on 920 Studemont Street, Suite 150, Houston, Texas. The Yates Holiday Party Theme was: One Family’s Tradition, Another Family’s Hope. The holiday party raised awareness on ending homelessness and was designed to help collect toiletries, blankets, and non-perishable goods. All donations will benefit the Star of Hope Mission.
