On Sunday, April 20 2017, The Humble-Kingwood Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc. held its new mothers initiation ceremony at Walden on Lake Houston Golf & Country Club in Houston, Texas. The new mothers initiation ceremony inducted several new mothers into the Humble-Kingwood Chapter. Outgoing and incoming chapter officers were also recognized. A scholarship presentation was given to Atascocita High School student Meagan Smith in the amount of one thousand dollars. The Houston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. recently held its 90 Years day celebration at the Power Center on Sunday, April 23, 2017, 3-6 p.m. The event’s theme was “Through the Lens of HAC” Honoring the Past and Fostering the Future. Several community leaders were recognized and honored for their work in the community. Houston City Council Member of District D Dwight Boykins led a panel discussion on what things people can do to improve the community. Christine Criner Smith (President of HAC) gave greetings and acknowledged special guests at the program. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated started at Howard University on January 13, 1913 and today, they have had a significant impact globally in society by continuing to enforce their Five-Point Programmatic Thrust; Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Involvement in their communities.
