106-year-old Virginia McLaurin, who spends her time volunteering as a foster grandparent, had one wish and that wish was to meet President Barack Obama. She wrote a letter to President Obama asking to meet him and even offered to have the meeting at her house if that would be more convenient for him. But of course, as only the First family can do, they invited Virginia to the White House and captured the beautiful moment. I can’t even imagine what that experience was like for her having been alive since 1910. She has seen it all and couldn’t keep from dancing for joy when her wish was finally granted. After shouting for joy Virginia said, “A black president! A black wife!” Of the experience Virginia said, “I felt good all in my soul. It was the greatest time of my life. I felt like I made it…I feel like I can die happy.” Virginia will turn 107 next month.
