Amber Rose is being sued by Los Angeles strip club Ace of Diamonds for claiming she purchased the establishment, which the organization denies.
While accepting the Vanguard Award at the All Def Movie Awards ceremony last Wednesday, Rose told the crowd about starting her career as an exotic dancer, adding, “Best time of my life, by the way. I had the time of my life.” She added, “But do y’all know Ace of Diamonds? Well, I bought it. So this is to every girl out there, every stripper, ya’ll can one day be on stage with Russell Simmons, receiving an award.”
But SKWS Enterprises, the owners of the club, say Rose’s assertion is “unequivocally false,” and are now suing her for slander, and seeking more than $1 million. Although Rose’s supposed new business acquisition now remains unclear, she does have a number of other side projects in addition to her modeling career.
In 2015, she launched the Amber Rose Foundation, a non-profit organization promoting women’s rights and equality issues. One of the mainstays of the charity is Rose’s annual Slut Walk, a protest march calling for an end to rape culture. Rose also hosts her own nighttime talk show on VH1.
