Thursday night (June 16) was the ultimate trifecta; an evening full of good vibes, great music and boiled crawfish! Parkwood Entertainment signee INGRID released her 7-track EP, Trill Feels, which featured the likes of James Fauntleroy, Kirko Bangz and Devin The Dude. Saint Heron, Solange Knowles’ entertainment/fashion brand, hosted the festivities at Walter’s Downtown, a standing room only, simplistic yet groovy venue, which allowed attendees space to move freely—something INGRID encouraged throughout the night.
The free Release Party kicked off at 6pm and Saint Heron made sure that the event ‘feels’ were nothing less than ‘trill’ by incorporating an intimate performance by INGRID, a Southern style crawfish boil, an open bar, and a ‘Trill Music Hour’ with sounds provided by Kyle Woods.
Before INGRID took the stage to perform, attendees were treated to a live painting dedicated to her official album cover. INGRID, who lent her own Southern roots to Beyoncé’s self-titled album and most recently aided in penning “Love Drought” on Lemonade, hit the stage by 10pm donning black chaps and a Tupac-styled folded bandana. Her energy remained high the entire set as she performed a few songs off of her debut album, including the single “FLEX” which features R&B artist Sevyn Streeter on the hook. Whether she was being true to her Houston roots on tracks like “Coming Dine” or delivering an upbeat sultry track like “F.A.D.,” the Third Ward native talent proved that she and her sound are here to stay.
Ingrid inked her deal with Parkwood after a lengthy relationship with Beyoncé led to songwriting endeavors with the world-renowned star. Since her singing in 2014—a deal that includes a publishing agreement with Sony—the Houston rapper has released a number of singles to critical acclaim.
On Trill Feels, Ingrid assures that the project is filled with “first-person experiences,” making her debut a personal one. The project is available for streaming on both Spotify and Apple Music.
