Tyrone Willis: How did you get started?
Coline Creuzot: “My parents put me in dance classes at a very young age, and I instantly fell in love with performing. Dancing, singing, songwriting, all of it excites me. I was about nine years old when I began writing my own music. I filled notebooks with my songs and ideas, and I am still at it today. I can’t go even one day without expressing myself through music, whether writing, singing, or performing.” What hidden talents do you have? “When I’m not in the studio or writing new material, painting abstract art is an avenue I use to express myself.”
Who are your favorite bands/singers?
“I enjoy genres of music. In addition to R&B, country music is one of my favorites. R&B and country songs both tell a story, and I love it when I can relate to and feel lyrics. It’s hard to pick a favorite band or singer, but a few of my favorites in no particular order are, Donny Hathaway, Beyoncé, Jazmine Sullivan, Michael Jackson, Rascal Flats, and Aaliyah.”
What embarrassing songs might I find on your iPod?
“My playlists are very eclectic. I wouldn’t have it any other way. From Justin Bieber to Tim McGraw, I am not embarrassed by any of it. I love listening to a wide range of music and pulling inspiration from artists in different genres. I encourage anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in the industry to explore all types of music.”
Where would you most like to perform & with who?
“There are so many talented artists I admire and respect it is impossible to narrow down just one I’d like to join on stage. It is a dream of mine for my band and I to perform at Madison Square Garden. It’s one of the busiest music venues in the world and home to some of the greatest shows ever performed. To join those ranks would be an honor.”
What do you think about when you are performing?
“Performing is my passion, so I try to zone out and live in every moment of a performance. It’s exhilarating, but also rewarding because I get to connect directly with the audience. Being on stage and seeing the crowd enjoying and singing my songs is among the greatest feelings I’ve experienced as an artist.”
When did you first start singing?
“I have been singing as early as I can remember, and I started performing when I was in elementary school around 9 years old. Growing up, I was in a few girl groups and sang at church and my school choir.”
Who else in your family sings?
“My mom has a beautiful voice and I know she’s been one of my most positive influences. I have two brothers who also have great voices. I might get in trouble with my older brother for revealing this, but my younger brother is known for having the voice of an angel.”
What else can we expect from you in the future?
“Definitely new music. I have two new singles, “Show Me” and “Numb,” which will be released May 3. These two songs are a follow up to my first single, “Truth Is” and all three will be featured on my upcoming EP “Timeless.” It’ll be an interesting release because the singles are so musically diverse. “Show Me” is more of an upbeat, sexy track and “Numb” is a slower, emotional ballad. When I write, I draw from my own vast range of personal experiences, so I anticipate that these singles will strike emotional chords with my listeners.” Outside of my own music, I also write for other artists. I recently penned a song with Kelly Rowland, and I’ve got more exciting tracks in progress. Everyone can expect some exciting upcoming projects and collaborations.”
