As President Barack Obama prepares to make his Exit from the White House as our President Of the United States of America, I’m reminded of one of his many famous quotes, “Don’t Boo…Vote”. So, therefore, I say to you busy ladies,: “Don’t Diet… Live”. For some, the definition of the word “diet” is sudden death. Ladies, we are so quick to pose a complaint about our lack of weight loss. Sometimes it’s hard to admit that diets just don’t work. Let’s consider dropping the concept of dieting and start a lifestyle change. Dieting can suck the life out of a busy woman who has to keep up with journals and charts etc. Let’s LIVE by making a lifestyle change.
The only difference between a “diet” mentality and a “lifestyle change” mentality is a woman’s outlook on the matter. Having a particular mental perspective may not make tofu more tasty than a chocolate pie, but the way you mentally process things can make a difference in the world when it comes to achieving your health and fitness goals, thus, avoiding unnecessary suffering along the way and helping you hang on to your achievements over the long haul.
Let’s take a look at the difference between a diet and a lifestyle:
– A Diet is all about the number: What the number on the scale indicates; the number of calories that are allowed daily; how many pounds can one lose in one week. We, as women, determine our success by how well we stick to the “numbers”
– A Lifestyle: Change is all about “YOU”. It’s about seeing the big picture of your ultimate goal and real desires. Lifestyle success is defined in terms of how these changes make you feel about yourself.
– Dieting Mentality: Just imagine that reaching a certain weight is your exact key to happiness and contentment. Imagine that this weight loss would solve all of life’s problems. If you had this outlook, messing up a number on any given day can be extremely upsetting and ruin what was, in fact, a good day.
– The Lifestyle Point of view: Takes the perspective that being overweight is usually the result of other problems not the cause of other problems. This lady knows that addressing the original problem head on is the best way to solve both the problems themselves and her weight issues. This means having a broad look at multiple things, not just the numbers on the scale or the nutrition tracker.
Making a lifestyle change involves taking a deep internal look into what permanent changes can be made regarding your relationship with food, eating, and physical activity. Ladies, in order to
live, you must declare in your heart and mind that you will not diet, but will commit to a lifestyle change to help make a long term change in your health and wellness. Busy ladies, make sure you don’t use eating to solve problems…it really can’t. A well lifestyle is a lifelong learning process that can change at the drop of a hat as your needs and circumstances change. So ladies, make every moment count. DON’T DIET…LIVE!
