The Fort Bend Marshall Buffs (32-8) ended their impressive high school basketball season this past Saturday, falling short against Mansfield Timberview (32-7) in a highly competitive Class 5A state championship game.
The Timberwolves overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to win its first ever Boys basketball state title, by the score of 74-66 before a crowd of 9,659 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Senior guard Jabari Rice led the Buffs with 20 points, while senior guard Tajzmel Sherman added 17 points and nine rebounds, and senior forward John Walker III finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds. While the Buffs will be losing these three play-making seniors, they should still be entertaining to watch come next year and beyond.
The Forward Times congratulates the Buffs team and head coach Gary Nichols on their successful championship run!
