The Forward Times has lost an extremely treasured member of our beloved family – Mrs. Henrietta Wilson, who peacefully transitioned from Grace to Glory on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
Mrs. Wilson served as the Advertising Director for the Forward Times for over 40 years. Although she had recently retired, she still assisted Forward Times whenever needed.
After the death of Julius Carter, Founder and Publisher of Forward Times, his wife Lenora Carter became the publisher and found herself needing strong leadership among her executives, so she called on her sister Henrietta Wilson. Henrietta gave up her job managing Moss Shoe Store to come and help her little sister out and became a major asset to the Forward Times family. She served in that capacity for over 40 years and was a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association as well.
Henrietta loved her clients and her clients loved her, too!
Mrs. Henrietta Wilson was born December 17th, 1938 in Barnum, Texas (Polk County) to the late J.V. and Dessie Mae McQueen. She united in holy matrimony to Monroe Wilson and was married for over 57 years. She was a faithful member at Progressive New Hope Baptist Church and later moved her membership to The Crossing Church, where she has been a member since the late ‘80s.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her father J.V. McQueen; mother, Dessie Mae McQueen; Sister Lenora “Doll” Carter; Brothers Donald McQueen and Mark McQueen.
Left in God’s care to cherish her love and memories and fulfill her legacy is her husband Monroe Wilson; sons: Roy Davis, Henry Davis, Ronald Smith; daughters: Sherelyn Johnson, Deborah Gibbs, Gloria Smith, Lashonda Dixon and Patricia Smith; brothers: William McQueen, L.V McQueen and Lawrence McQueen; sisters: Earlier Mae Gordon and Doretha Denson; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Henrietta Wilson will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 am at The Crossing Community Church, located at 3225 West Orem Dr. Houston, Texas 77045.
Viewing will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am before service.
Rest well, Mrs. Henrietta Wilson…rest well!
