The Houston Texans off-season ended officially on June 14, 2018. Safety Tyrann Matheiu and corner-back Aaron Colvin were signed, as well as safety Justin Reid and tackle Martinas Rakin who were drafted in the third round. Matheiu was quoted as saying, “I get to play with Jadeveon Clowney and J.J. Watt. I can just stand in the middle of the field. I’m going to have a lot of fun.” Matheiu is right. He will have a lot of fun as long as Watt and Clowney stay healthy this year. While the Texans signed linebacker Benardrick McKinney to a five-year $50 million contract extension, it looks like they are playing the slow game with Clowney to determine whether he can stay healthy before committing to an extension for him. So again, the whole team can have a lot of fun all the way through the season and straight to the Superbowl…barring injury. The question on everyone’s mind is how the Quarterback prodigy that is Deshaun Watson will fare coming back from the right ACL tear he suffered last season. Only time will tell.
