NBA star Iman Shumpert and his fiancee Teyana Taylor welcomed their baby girl in an unexpected manner last week, delivering her themselves in an unplanned home birth!
“On Dec 16th at 6:42am in our bathroom Junie decided she wanted to take her first breath into this world. She came out as a wonderful surprise to everyone!” Taylor, 25, captioned an Instagram pic of their newborn on Thursday. “Not knowing I was in labor until I felt her head…it took two ten count pushes with my fiancé playing Dr and she entered this world into his bare hands!”
The singer revealed that Shumpert, 25, tied off their daughter’s umbilical cord with a pair of headphones as they waited for the ambulance to arrive.
“She opened her eyes right away, gazed into mine and never cried! He handed her to me wrapped in our bath towel and wiped her face for me to see what LOVE really is,” Taylor said of their new baby girl, whom the couple named after her father. “She has blown Christmas away! Our family is complete. Her blueprint will be unmatched. Welcome Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. Mommy carried you. Daddy delivered you. #MeetTheParents we love you baby girl.”
Shumpert has yet to take to social media with the happy news, but the Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard posted a heartfelt tribute to his fiancee last week.
“As we grow together you’ve taught me more about myself than I ever knew,” he captioned a black-and-white Instagram pic of the pair. “You have changed my life forever. You have made a house a home. You have carried the next generation. And you have proven to me that love is real and genuine.”
