After being a major key in the history making comeback from a 3-1 series deficit, 3 Championship rings, 6 consecutive NBA Championship appearances (7 in total), a unanimous NBA Finals MVP vote, and finally becoming the 3rd player in history to have a Game 7 triple-double, the basketball legacy of LeBron James is no longer up for debate.
He did it. LeBron James soared through the air, like something out of Space Jam, to block Andre Iguodala’s layup and gave the city of Cleveland, his hometown, the title they have waited 52 years for. “He’s been doing that all series,” Igodala said post-game. “He’s made some great plays for their team. What he’s done for them and tried to help build there finally came to fruition. They won a championship, and give those guys a lot of credit.”
Kyrie Irving, who had some incredible moments including draining a clutch 3-pointer with 53 seconds to go that solidified the win, said LeBron is the “best player on the planet.”
Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said of Finals MVP James, “You see his basketball talent, the way he can control a game. But the reason why he deserves this is because he has a great heart … and great things happen to great people.”
James, who went into “Zero Dark Thirty-23” mode on April 16, 2016, finally broke his social media silence following the teams victory to address the “noise” saying, “They said u lost a step, wasn’t explosive as once was, the best days was in the real view, questioned your drive, your leadership, your commitment, you don’t have killer instinct, going back home is the worst mistake in your career, he got the coach fired, players traded, won’t work between him and Kyrie, Him and Kev won’t work, love your teammates to much, there’s no way he can deliver a championship in his hometown, etc etc etc…. But guess what THATS NONE OF MY BUSINESS”
And just like that, there is nothing more to say.
