Texas Southern University (TSU) recently announced that they have hired a new Executive Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police at the university.
The announcement was made by Edward Craig Ness, Vice President of Administration and Finance at TSU.
“Chief Green has served as the Interim Chief of Police since November,” said Ness. “His enthusiasm and allegiance to TSU and our students are evident and I look forward to working with him.”
Remon Green, a veteran police officer of 22 years, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to TSU, where he’s served in several capacities. Working his way through the ranks, Green has been at the university for nearly 14 years – first as Sergeant, then promoted to Lieutenant, followed by a promotion to Captain, and more recently serving as Deputy Chief.
About the appointment, Green states: “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to serve as Chief of Police at Texas Southern University. I want to let TSU and the community know that I will do my very best, day in and day out to serve, protect and promote the university.”
Green further noted that he plans to work in concert with the TSU community to build a safe environment for students, faculty and staff to live, learn and work.
Green received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Concordia University, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College, Class #58; Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, 237th Session; Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police Executives, Class #55; and a host of other leadership and command level training.
He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Administration of Justice from TSU, where he has completed all required coursework.
