It’s a wrap on the NBA bubble for the Houston Rockets. The Rockets made their playoff exit in the second round against the Los Angeles Lakers after losing the last 4 games of the series. What went wrong? It’s as simple as not enough went right.
They simply were not able to sustain the offensive and defensive efforts needed to defeat the Lakers. And so the season has ended for the Rockets.
On Sunday, Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni announced that he plans to exit the Rockets bubble and seek opportunities elsewhere.
The statement read, “It’s with tremendous sadness and gratitude that my wife Laurel and I announce that our incredible journey in Houston has ended for now and that we’ll be moving to a new chapter. Our time here was among the most memorable experiences of our lives. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making us feel like true Houstonians. For that, we will always be truly grateful.”
D’Antoni had quite the run during his tenure as head coach with a record of 217-102. He even coached the team to their game 7 Western Conference Championship appearance in the 2017-2018 season against the stacked Golden State Warriors.
