Steve Harvey dedicated the entire hour to the water crisis in Flint, MI, with an audience full of residents bussed in from Flint. Flint, MI has become a tragic snapshot of an American city in crisis.
In April 2014, Flint switched its water source from Lake Huron to the Flint River in a cost cutting measure. It became a man-made disaster when residents learned that the river was corroding the city pipes and contaminating the water with lead.
Careless government actions resulted in a community full of frustrated and angry members, many of whom have fallen ill from the contamination. The health effects took months to appear and even longer to verify. A city of almost 100,000 people was poisoned and is now in a state of federal emergency.
Presidential hopeful Secretary Hillary Clinton joined Steve to talk about her recent visit to the troubled city and what she learned from talking to the people of Flint. Flint Mayor, Karen Weaver also joined the conversation, with an inside look at what needs to be done to fix the problem and how much money it will cost.
