HOUSTON – Sylvester Turner announced today that Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has endorsed him in the race for Houston Mayor.
“Sylvester Turner’s strong record of public service, commitment to the city of Houston and dedication to its people make him the right choice for Mayor,” said Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. “He has the knowledge and experience necessary to lead an important metropolitan city like Houston, and he has the compassion and understanding to improve communities and change lives. I am proud to endorse Sylvester Turner for the next Mayor of Houston.”
“I’m very grateful to have the endorsement of Mayor Reed,” said Turner. “Mayor Reed understands that in order to move a city forward we must provide our residents with safer streets, better roads, and the opportunity for everyone to succeed. This is why I’m running to become Houston’s next Mayor.”
Sylvester Turner is running for mayor — with the support of Democrats and Republicans, community groups, business leaders and unions — to make our neighborhoods safer, improve our roads and give working people a better chance to get ahead. He has been endorsed by the Houston Chronicle, Jewish Herald Voice, African American News and Issues, dozens of organizations, and thousands of Houstonians.
