The Houston Texans are looking to win the AFC South for the second straight season.
The Colts, Jaguars, and Titans all have improved over the offseason, but so have the Texans.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Texans have brought in Brock Osweiler and Lamar Miller. Osweiler played a pivotal role throughout last year’s season, as one of the quarterbacks for the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos. Osweiler played in eight games for them last season, while throwing for just under 2,000 yards and finishing with 10 touchdowns. Miller was the running back for the Miami Dolphins last season. He had over 1,000 yards combined last season.
The Texans had to go get a running back during the offseason, as a result of Arian Foster not being able to stay healthy. The Texans also drafted on the offensive side of the ball. Nick Martin is a center out of Notre Dame, but will be out for the season due to an ankle injury.
The next thing the Texans did in the draft was get more speed receiver options for Osweiler. Will Fuller and Braxton Miller are speed guys that run the deep route or run a quick slant route and get plenty of yards after the catch. Fuller has done outstanding in the preseason so far, being able to beat plenty of defensive backs down the field.
The defense for the Texans did not change much due to how effective they were last season. This preseason Jadeveon Clowney has looked like an animal, getting countless pressure on the quarterback. J.J. Watt had back surgery in the offseason. It is not certain if he will be able to play in the first game of the season against the Chicago Bears.
Texans fans should be excited for this upcoming season. This Texans’ team should be make it to the playoffs for its second straight season. They do have a tough schedule, but nine wins should be easy for them to win.
