It was a year ago when reports of the Houston Astros cheating scandal broke. Overnight they became the villains of the MLB. In the most unlikely of events the Astros managed to have a decent season and found their way to force a game 7 in the American League Championship Series. After trailing 3-0 in the series against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Astros came back to tie the series up and force a game 7. In what has been a wildly trying year, the Astros managed to escape a fair amount of anger as the coronavirus pandemic cut down on in-person interactions with fans. The team was fined millions of dollars, the managers fired, and draft picks were lost. Beyond the scandal, the team dealt with key players getting injured and a shortened season. And yet somehow they survived and played their very best, which got them far but not quite far enough. While they ended up losing game seven, this run might just remind folks that scandal or not, they have some quality ballplayers on the squad.
