On Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 5:00 p.m., The Urban Souls Dance Company presented Dancing with the Houston Stars: Bright Lights of Broadway. The 2016 Dancing with the Houston Stars included Jackie Adams (Owner of Melodrama Boutique), David Chaumette (Attorney), Lloyd Gite (Gallery Owner/Journalist), Chauncy Glover (Anchor on ABC-13), Javani King (Executive Chef, Davis St. Hermann Park), and Courtney Perna (Reporter on KHOU-11). Special guest performers included a Broadway tribute that was presented by Alde Lewis & Stephen Richard.
The guest judges were Lauren Anderson, Joy Sewing, Judge Clarease Yates, Bryce Hairston Kennard, St. John Flynn, and Chris Thomas. The 2016 Mistress of Ceremony was Nakia Cooper, who is the Senior Web Editor/Producer of the KPRC Local 2 website Click2Houston.com. Cooper currently serves as the VP of Multimedia for the Houston Association of Black Journalists (HABJ). The 2016 Master of Ceremony was Travis Torrence who is an attorney at Shell Oil Company, representing Shell’s interests in bankruptcy and insolvency-related matters. Torrence has been honored by Texas Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the area of Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights.
