Elaine Welteroth (New York Times Best Selling Author and Former Editor and Chief of Teen Vogue) and Jonathan Singletary (Musician) had one of those romances right out of a book where they met as children and reconnected as adults. Their platonic friendship blossomed into romance and they decided to get married on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2020. Why Mother’s Day? Apparently their Mothers introduced the pair back when they were 12 years old and, “to let them tell it, they swear it was their collective prayers that made this marriage happen” Elaine shared with Vogue Magazine. Their dream wedding was to take place symbolically on Mother’s day as a tribute to their Moms who remain friends to this day. With the onset of COVID-19 it became clear that adjustments would have to be made for safety. The pair came up with a beautiful and magical solution to the COVID-19 problem and their wedding went on as planned on Mother’s Day. Instead of a California wedding, the two exchanged vows on the stoop of their Brooklyn home surrounded by friends and family. There were guests who attended virtually via Facetime/Zoom and the guests who were present practiced social distancing. After the vows were exchanged a mini block party served as their reception. Congratulations to the pair and check out some of the photos of their big day.
