On Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Achievement Through Leadership Foundation (A.T.L.F.) Missouri City Sugar Land (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. held a Back 2 School Supply Drive at J BLACK’S Feel Good Kitchen & Lounge on 110 S. Heights Blvd, Houston, Texas 77007. The A.T.L.F. Foundation is committed to supporting the personal evolution of youth in the Greater Houston Area by assisting them with higher education and leadership development.
The foundation provides support through goals such as: assisting financially distressed youth in their pursuit of a college education; participating in and supporting the cultural, educational, and social development of at-risk youth; supporting cooperative efforts of social organizations that undertake initiatives consistent with the mission and objectives of this foundation; and providing “models of achievement” from within this organization as a source of encouragement and support for aspiring youth. The Achievement Through Leadership Foundation (A.T.L.F.), established in 2005, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded by the members of the Missouri City – Sugar Land (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

The 60th Drifters, Inc. Annual Convention
The Houston Chapter of The Drifters, Incorporated recently attended the 60th Drifters Inc. Annual Convention that was recently held in Fort Worth, Texas. The Houston Chapter of the Drifters Inc. celebrates its first national officer Drifter Ada Cooper, who is the new national secretary. The Drifters, a national civic organization, continues to be in public focus – not only because of its unique charitable, civic, and social involvement but, because of the contributions that are made to enhance communities. With 32 chapters nationwide, the Houston Chapter continues to be the largest. Thanks to Thelma Johnson for providing great insight to this wonderful convention. The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter passed on the torch to the Houston Chapter where the national convention will be held in 2017. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Hosts White Linen in the Heights Party
On Saturday, August 6, 2016, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee hosted a white linen in the Heights Party. This party consisted of food, family, and plenty of fun. Congresswoman Lee greeted everyone who came and presented certificates of recognition to all of the program participants, including Kim Roxie. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner Hosts Back To School Fest
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner partnered with Shell Oil Company and the University of Houston to host the 6th Annual Back To School Fest on August 13, 2016 at the University of Houston where thousands attended.
