Kay Davis in the Community hosted their 2nd annual “For The Art In You Champions Day” at Attucks Middle School, in the Sunny Side community, on Thursday.

Students from Jack Yates High School in 3rd Ward, also participated in the art competition and won first, second and third place, sweeping all categories.
Participating Attucks art students won honorable mention but will be able to challenge Yates for the title during a rematch at a later date.
The winners were presented with cash prizes ranging from $100 to $1,000.
Additional funding will be provided through KDITC’s partnerships with Dr. Reagan Flowers, of C-STEM Inc., who will be working towards an ongoing grant from CenterPoint Energy. The Artist Collective has also signed on as a community partner with KDITC to provide services for the art program.
KIDTC Founder and owner of Kay Davis & Associates, Dannette Davis has her main building headquartered in 3rd Ward and has a showroom in Sunnyside. Her love of the community and passion for the arts is what inspired her to create the art competition and invest in the art program. Last year’s art focus was dance culture history and presentation with community partner, Dance Fusion by CJ.
“This is our second year, and we are going to keep it going. It is our responsibility to care because we know that it takes a village,” said Davis. “When I say that I am your neighbor, I really mean it. Our showroom is literally across the street from Attucks Middle School and our main office is headquartered a few blocks from Jack Yates. It’s only right that we give back and support these programs that provide a positive outlet for these students.”
